What this site is
PassGenFast is a free password and passphrase generator published by Marvin Smit. It runs entirely in your browser. By using the site you accept the terms on this page.
The passwords are yours
Whatever you generate is yours to use for anything, personal or commercial, with no attribution and no limit. We never see it, so we claim nothing over it. Keeping it safe once it exists is up to you: store it in a password manager, and remember that pressing Copy leaves it on your clipboard.
Not security advice
The explanations here are general information. They do not take account of your situation, your threat model or the rules your employer or your bank may impose, and they are not professional security, legal or compliance advice. If you are protecting something that matters to other people, get advice from someone qualified to give it.
Provided as is
We take the cryptography seriously: the generator uses the browser’s cryptographic random source, avoids the bias that a naive implementation introduces, refuses to run rather than fall back to an insecure source, and is covered by automated tests. Even so, the site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Browsers vary, extensions can interfere with any page, and no tool can protect a password from a device that is already compromised.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this site, including loss of, or unauthorised access to, an account protected by a password generated here. If some liability cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you, nothing here limits it.
Acceptable use
Please do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other people, present it as the work of a security company, or republish the articles as your own. The site’s text, design and code remain ours. The EFF wordlist used for passphrases belongs to the Electronic Frontier Foundation and is used under CC BY 3.0 US.
